Pet Friendly Condesa! A Review On A Penthouse Apartment In Mexico City

January 2023

Mexico City is a wonderful city with loads of things to see and do – even with a dog. We spent three months living in Condesa, which is a very pet-friendly neighborhood in Mexico City.

Condesa has many lovely green spaces, parks with wide sidewalks for walking with your dog.

Condesa has hundreds of restaurants all walking distance from the Airbnb Penthouse apartment.

Most restaurants in Condesa are dog friendly and some even offer a pet menu!

Unfortunately, this place is no longer available on Airbnb.

However, I am choosing to keep this information up on the website.

It will give you an idea of an area within Condesa that is nice to stay.

We stayed here for three months. It is on the outer edge of Condesa.

The apartment is located on Alfonso Reyes 15, in Condesa.

The apartment building is a 5-minute walk to the subway (very convenient) and 10-minute walks to all the restaurants and shops.

Pros:

The Airbnb host is Michel. He is an excellent host!

He met us at the apartment when we arrived and helped us check-in.

We drove from California to Mexico City (CDMS). Since we were staying more than two weeks in Mexico City, we needed to get a special circulation sticker and smog check in order to be able to drive in CDMX.

Michel helped us get a circulation pass and smog check for our car. He went above and beyond. That is why he is a Super Host on Airbnb!

Michel has two Airbnb apartments in the building. The one we stayed in was on the top floor – penthouse. It had big windows which let in a lot of light.

The apartment was very clean.

There was an elevator.

The building and garage have 24-hour security.

The kitchen is tiny however it is fully equipped with everything needed for cooking plus a nice full-size refrigerator.

The entire building is Pet Friendly so you will see other dogs once in a while.

Across the street (a three-minute walk from the apartment) is a small park with grass to walk dogs.

The famous Chapultepec Castle and park is a short 15 minute walk from the apartment.

This apartment is about a 15 minute walk to Parque Mexico. This park has an official fenced-in dog park.

It is very busy in the mornings with lots of dogs.

Condesa has many professional dog walkers who take the dogs to this dog part each day.

There are also dog trainers who offer training classes in Parque Mexico.

Conveniently located on the ground floor of the apartment building a professional laundromat (lavandería).

For 60+ pesos, drop off your laundry in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon. Washed, dried and neatly folded!

The building is located close to the subway station (Juanacatlán stop).

It is about a 5-minute walk to the subway station.

Taking the subway is the best way to get around CDMX. It is a flat rate of 5 pesos, no matter how far you take the subway. You will arrive at your destination faster than taking a car. You avoid all the traffic!

The building is a short walk to many nice restaurants, shops, bars, and a large grocery store called Soriana.

Cons:

The apartment is located between two major streets with a lot of traffic that we could hear day and night.

It was especially loud when all the semi-trucks were trying to stop for the stoplights. We slept with noise-canceling earbuds and the Calm App  on, which kept the traffic noise out.

No view per se from the windows. They look out onto cinder block walls on one side of the living room and a water heater on the other side. However, the place was still bright and sunny, but no view.

Summary:

As you can read there are more pros than cons for this apartment. If you do not mind traffic noise, this is a nice and convenient long-term place to stay in Condesa.
